Trail / Tour Itinerary

Petra Entry & Tombs Exploration

We will start the tour walking on foot, passing a great variety of Nabataean tombs carved into sandstone cliffs while listening to a brief introduction about the ancient Nabataean civilization, their monuments, and how they were carved.

The Siq & Treasury

We will walk through the stunning Siq canyon (1.2 km), one of the most fascinating parts of Petra. At the end of the Siq, you will catch your first breathtaking glimpse of the Treasury (Al Khazanah). You will have time to take photos and receive detailed information about this iconic monument.

Street of Facades & Hidden Views

We will continue to the Street of Facades, where dozens of beautifully carved tombs line the path. Then we take a short and easy hike to explore hidden caves with stunning rock colors and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the Roman Theater.

Royal Tombs & Byzantine Church

We will visit the Royal Tombs and enter the Urn Tomb to experience its impressive acoustics. Afterwards, we explore the remains of ancient Nabataean houses and visit the 6th-century Byzantine Church, known for its well-preserved mosaic floor.

Climb to the Monastery

After a short break, we begin the climb of 860 steps up to the Monastery (Ad Deir), the largest monument in Petra. At the top, we relax at a café with tea while enjoying the magnificent view of the monument.

Back Trail & Scenic Views

We exit Petra via the back trail from the Monastery, offering panoramic views over Wadi Araba and the African Rift Valley, with landscapes similar to the Grand Canyon. Along the way, we explore ancient house foundations dating back to the 4th millennium BC.
